The second assumption is that Russian policy makers and intelligence brass care about the feelings of their intelligence assets they don’t intelligence assets the world over are tools of policy for policy makers sure they’d like to get them back but it isn’t because they have a particular attachment to them it’s so they can sit for a debrief about the interrogation process they underwent when they were caught it’s so they can pass on Lessons Learned to younger assets it’s for a dozen reasons but none of those reasons include motivating other assets and none of the motivations for policymakers include concern for the well-being or lives of the asset
